TdL Model Systems began with a desire I had to combine my experience in computer systems with the Radio Control hobbies.

In May 1999 I came back from a job in Silicon Valley and stopped by the Apollo 11 Model Airplane field to relax and talk to old friends. Frank Randak, president of the AVT-Train Corporation approached me and ask me if I would be interested in helping him build a working 1/10th scale prototype of a unique train that he had invented see www.AVT-Train.com. I first looked at his drawings with some skepticism, but soon realized he had a truly elegant and feasible solution to the world’s transportation problems. TdL Model Sytems was born.

Ten months later we were filming the test of the AVT-Train prototype at Griffith Park on a special track that we constructed. See Picture Gallery.

In January 2000, at the Pasadena IMS Show, I met Frits, a clever fellow who had built an inexpensive CNC Foam Cutting system that was simple and inexpensive, I immediately ordered a unit which arrived in March. I began to study the brief manuals and started to experiment by cutting hollow wing out of blue foam and tapered shapes such as fuselages, soon I run an ad in Model Airplane News magazine and offered CNC Foam Cutting services.

I realized that if something happened to my machine, I would not be able to satisfy my customers needs for wings etc.
I thought that if I would have another machine, it would be a backup if something should be wrong with my other machine.

Having two machines gave me the idea of creating a twin Foam Cutting machine that would cut Left and Right wing at the same time. As far as I know, the first CNC Foam Cutter capable of cutting mirrored parts was born.
Not satisfied with the limited capacity of my creation, I wanted to build another two times the size thereby removing my 22 inches limitation in cord size. So the larger unit was born, designated the WIREDANCE-56140, it is capable of cutting up to 120” by 44” cord wing. We have cut many small and large wings for individuals and companies, some sample you will find in our Picture Gallery.

Besides CNC Foam Cutting, Laminating with Balsa, 1/64th Plywood, Fiberglass, and Carbon fiber cloth, and vacuum bagging, we offer a beautiful line of Almost Ready to Fly models and Brushless Outrunner Motors.
